Theme of the Day: Through the Word, the Lord’s Reign Over Evil Advances

Jesus still drives back Satan and his allies just as he drove out demons while he walked the earth. Even though we must wait for the day of Satan’s final banishment to the abyss, the gospel has the power to break Satan’s hold on mankind wherever it is preached and heard. Jesus still “sends the powers of evil reeling” (CW 744).

Luke 8:26-39
Isaiah 43:8-13
2 Timothy 1:3-10
Psalm 66

923 – Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah
744 – Rise, Shine, You People
575 – By Grace I’m Saved
769 – Your Hand, O Lord, in Days of Old
686 – Water, Blood, and Spirit Crying

Prayer of the Day: Lord God, heavenly Father, you sent your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, into this world to destroy the works of the devil and protect us poor people against such an evil foe. Uphold us in all affliction by your Holy Spirit so that we may have peace from such enemies and remain forever blessed; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Gospel Acclamation: Alleluia. We have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. Alleluia.
